Michelle Nunn Calls On Republican Opponents Kingston and Perdue To Pledge To Refuse Third Party Ads, Limit Influence Of Outside Spending In Senate Race

Third Party Ads Are Often Funded By Special Interests And Wealthy Individuals Who Don't Have To Disclose Who They Are, Or Make Clear In The Ads Who Is Sponsoring Them

Nunn To Opponents: "If we can join together and pledge to limit outside group spending and third party ads, we can together show that the people of our state are tired of politics as usual."

Today, Michelle Nunn, former CEO of the Points of Light Foundation and candidate for U.S. Senate, called on Congressman Jack Kingston and David Perdue to pledge to refuse third party ads and limit the influence of outside group spending during the upcoming General Election campaign.

In an open letter to Jack Kingston and David Perdue, Nunn noted how third-party groups -- often funded by special interests and very wealthy individuals who are never forced to disclose their identities -- are able to spend millions of dollars in television ads in order to influence the election. In contrast, donors to candidate's committees must be reported and adhere to strict fundraising limits.

Third-party ads also don't have to be approved by the candidates themselves and no one is forced to stand by their claims.
